Advert for Band 5 Staff Nurse, Critical Care

 

Vacancies have arisen for the post of Band 5 Staff Nurse in Critical Care. We are looking for nurses with previous experience as staff nurses caring for level 2 and level 3 critically ill patients (High Dependency and Intensive Care).

 

Are you motivated and enthusiastic? Interested in your professional development? Through our strong academic links with the University of Greenwich, you will be supported to achieve the Mentorship and degree/masters level Intensive Care Courses. You will be supported by your Band 7 Team Leader, and our Practice Development Nurse.

 

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, empathy and understanding of the patient’s experience, and the ability to deliver holistic care within a high-pressured environment.

There are 10 level 3 and 5 level 2 beds within Critical Care at the QEW.

 

You need to have current NMC UK nursing registration. The application process will include English language testing, numeracy and drug administration testing.

 

We are located in south east London, with bus, train and underground links to central London. There is a limited amount of accommodation available at the hospital. We have links with local letting agents.

Lakes District Health Board provides healthcare for a central North Island population of 108,000 people. With our new Health of Older Persons Inpatient Unit opening early 2013, you will be involved in developing a Stroke Unit and be a key liaison in Orthogeriatric and Geriatric Care.
About the role
Reporting to the Clinical Head of Internal Medicine you will work with one other Specialist Geriatrician in a Service closely integrated with the wider Internal Medicine Service. You will:
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation Services
  • Function as a Lead Clinician for patients with Stroke and TIAs
  • Be well supported by Junior Medical Staff, with opportunities for teaching
What are we looking for?
  • A Specialist Geriatrician
  • FRACP or equivalent
  • Eligible for specialist registration with NZ Medical Council

Wanganui is a coastal city, within easy distance of New Zealand’s famed North Island ski fields. Mt Ruapehu in the Tongariro National Park is the North Island’s highest peak and principal skiing ground. The views from around the mountain are beautiful. Wanganui offers
an impressive array of sporting and recreational facilities and venues. The Whanganui River sweeps through the valley over which the city is spread, and is the longest navigable waterway in the North Island. The river provides facilities for rowing, sailing, canoeing, water skiing and windsurfing. The city also boasts excellent sporting facilities and has an international reputation as being one of the finest sports training regions in the world.

Wanganui is approximately midway between Wellington and New Plymouth. Wellington is 193km away (two and a half hours’ drive). Daily flights are available from Wanganui to both Wellington and Auckland.

We are seeking a Consultant Physician to become part of the general medical team comprising six Consultants, supported by six House Officers. Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand is essential, along with specialising in Stroke and Cardiac support.
